First run
Finish the Welcome page: sign in, set up your knowledge workspace, and add ready-made tabs for the work you do.
Where: Settings→Account→Set up…
The first time Griddler opens, it shows Welcome to Griddler. Two rows say what's in place and what's missing. Nothing on the page blocks you. You can skip it and come back later.
Finish the Welcome page
1 Account
Click Sign in and finish in your browser with your River Logic account. The row then reads Signed in as your email, plus the Azure DevOps state. If it says Azure DevOps not connected, click Connect Azure DevOps. It uses the sign-in your browser already has.
2 Knowledge workspace
Griddler looks for your workspace and says what it found. Pick the button the row offers; see the table below.
Finish
Click Finish. Griddler opens a Claude Code pane in your knowledge workspace.
Skip for now closes the page without touching your grid, and the page doesn't come back on its own. The Doctor keeps listing what's missing, and its Knowledge workspace and Azure DevOps rows have a Set up… button that brings this page back.
Signing in is optional. Griddler works signed out; see Signed in or not.
Set up your knowledge workspace
The knowledge workspace is the team's archive plus your own tasks, inbox, and notes folders. Every Claude
Code session you start there reads it first.
| The row says | Click |
|---|---|
| Found at a folder | Nothing to do. Add the missing folders appears if some are missing. Change… points at a different one. |
| N workspaces on this machine — which one do you mean? | Pick one, then Use the selected one. |
| The archive is at a folder with no workspace around it | Create at the suggested folder, or Somewhere else… |
| None on this machine yet. | Create at the suggested folder, or Somewhere else… |
Create makes the folders and a starter CLAUDE.md, clones the archive, and copies the team's shared
slash commands. The clone takes a minute or two, and the row shows each stage while it runs.
- The suggested folder is
C:\RLI.KWon Windows and~/RLI.KWelsewhere. - Somewhere else… asks for the parent folder. Griddler creates
RLI.KWinside it. - Create never overwrites a file that's already there.
The clone signs in to Azure DevOps as you. If the row says your Azure DevOps sign-in has expired, click Connect Azure DevOps in row 1, then Create again. The folders it already made stay in place.
Add a line of work
A line of work is a ready-made tab: Claude Code open in the right repositories, plus the pages that go with them. Click Add a line of work… on the Welcome page or in Settings→Account.
Tick what you work on and click Add. Each one opens in its own new tab. Nothing already open changes.
| Line of work | What it's for |
|---|---|
| EODE | The EO+ product surface — authoring by conversation |
| EO+ / VCO | The shipping product — WebApp, services, the uploader path |
| Session server | EO-in-a-pod — one engine process per user session |
| The EO engine | The COR engine, RuleTran toolchain, corbuild |
| EO ruleset | The .rul rules that define modeling behaviour |
| EOS server | EOServer, EOSAgent, MDS and the cloud services |
| Local dev stack | SQL Server, Azurite and Redis in Docker |
| Griddler | This cockpit, and the Guildhall behind it |
Each row lists the repositories it needs and where Griddler found them on this machine.
- Clone it… appears for a repository you don't have. It asks where to put the clone.
- Locate… points Griddler at a copy it didn't find.
- If you have several copies of one repository, pick the one you mean by its branch.
Add only runs when every ticked line of work has its repositories. Clone or locate the missing ones, or untick that line.
Some lines of work come with reading. Their row has a link under the repositories, such as Six-slide orientation ↗ on EODE. Click it to open the reading in a viewer inside Griddler. The viewer has Open in browser ↗ to read it in your own browser, and Done to close it.
After Add, the viewer opens by itself for the first ticked line of work that has reading. Click Done when you've read it.
Turn on the green "needs you" border
A banner across the top of the window asks Enable precise task lifecycle signals? Click Enable so Claude Code panes turn green the moment they finish or need your permission. See Know when a pane needs you.
Limits
- Signing out of your River Logic account doesn't disconnect Azure DevOps.
- Griddler's Azure DevOps sign-in only applies to git inside the archive folder, and only while Griddler is running. Your other repositories keep the git credentials they already use.
